The Fourteen FRZ Wedge is the culmination of Fourteen wedge development.

PIONEER OF SPIN WEDGES

22 years ago, Fourteen released a spin wedge called "MT-28." It was the first wedge to feature a "U-groove" with sharp edges on the face grooves, creating overwhelming performance that allowed anyone, regardless of skill, to hit professional-level spin shots.  Tour players were amazed by the spin performance, which was so overwhelming that it was the most used wedge on the Japan PGA Tour.  The "MT-28" revolutionized wedge spin performance, and in 2010 the use of U-groove wedges was banned in tournaments.  The spin wedge developed by Fourteen had such an overwhelming advantage that it changed the equipment rules.

FR PROJECT (FOURTEEN REVOLVE PROJECT)

Fourteen's R&D department started the FR (FOURTEEN REVOLVE) PROJECT to once again change the roots of spin performance.  The goal is to achieve the same
performance that allows all golfers to hit professional-level spin shots as they did with the innovative U-groove MT-28 wedge.  The new model FRZ, developed through the FR PROJECT, serves as a reminder that Fourteen is a manufacturer for all golfers, and promises to be a breakthrough spin wedge producer.

A SUPERIOR GROOVE THAT SURPASSES PREVIOUS QUALITY CONTROL STANDARDS COMBINED WITH LASER MILLING FOR MAXIMUM & STABLE SPIN:

Fourteen's most important policy is uncompromising product precision. This is  because we want to deliver to golfers the performance that was intended by the  original design. To that end, the strict inspection standards have been established and implemented thorough quality control allowing our grooves to be pushed closer to the limits than ever before. Only "perfect grooves" are shipped after undergoing rigorous quality  inspection of finished products.

The finest groove quality delivers the highest level of  spin performance to golfers.  To increase spin rate, it is necessary to improve the friction conditions between  the face and ball at impact, and for that, the flatness precision of the face is very important. Flatness precision is essential for the best groove design.  In addition, laser milling is applied to the face to reduce the loss of spin performance in all conditions around the green, such as in wet conditions, rough and in bunkers.

NEWLY DESIGNED SHAPE WITH MILLED TAPERED BLADE:

The center of gravity in the FRZ Wedges has been intentionally designed away from the actual impact point.  One of the purposes is to increase maneuverability by placing the center of gravity on the heel side, as well as to accommodate the various techniques utilised by players.  The new design also facilitates to control the amount of spin depending on the technical shot.  In addition, by separating the center of gravity from the actual impact point, the gear effect helps to improve spin performance.

SOLE VARIATIONS TO SUIT DIFFERENT PLAYING STYLES AND CONDITIONS:

The propulsive force of the head generated when the sole hits the ground (grass or sand) affects the amount of spin and energy.  There are three types of sole to provide optimal  spin, smooth follow through, and ideal head speed acceleration depending on each player’s style/shot and golf course conditions.

S TYPE SOLE:

The S Type Sole is Fourteen's standard sole. The rounded sole is adaptable to a wide variety of shots.

H TYPE SOLE:

The H Type Sole is Fourteen's Hill sole.  This is the most effective sole to produce a high bounce effect and is suitable to for players with sharp attack angles or shots that require a steep angle of attack.

T TYPE SOLE:

The T Type Sole is Fourteen's Twin sole.  It is a two-sided sole with a mountain-shaped ridge in the center which makes it easy to open the face, allowing the player to play a greater variety of shots without worrying about added bounce.
